NYC Lolita Day Meet *UPDATED*
Alright my lovely gals and guy(s), here’s the second update to the NYC Lolita Day Air & Space Meet to be held on June 6th in which there are going to be a few changes made to our schedule. Unfortunately, Alice’s Tea Cup (which I had planned for brunch) didn’t work out, due to their party restrictions and regulations for their Chapter I location. Turns out that there’s a 20 person limit to any one group making reservations for said location. In addition, if we do make a reservation, they require that we all order the Mad Hatter tea set (some $30), which isn’t feasible for brunch. There’s also a hefty $100 an hour catering service charge, something that would make the meet-up practically unaffordable ( @_@ ). After speaking to a few of my fellow lolitas, we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s probably best to drop brunch altogether and head straight to the AMNH; we’re just going to grab something to eat at one of their cafeterias instead. But don’t fret! Forgoing Alice’s turned out to be a godsend in the end, as I had discovered two things: (1) the Intrepid closes at 5 PM instead of 6, as I had originally thought, and (2) there’s a GLB photoshoot and raffle event at Kinokuniya that only came to my attention recently. Because of situations working themselves out, that extra time will come in really handy. Not to mention the amount that is cut from the price tag of this meet, making it relatively more affordable for those who were/are a bit leery about coming due to the hefty expenses involved. Awesome, eh? This meet can only become more epic. What do you think, my frillbillies, er, my lovelies? :]
Anyway, I’ve made reservations for dinner at Bourbon Street, so if you haven’t RSVP’d yet, please get back to me ASAP. I have to know at least a day ahead of time if you’re going to come or not, especially if it ends up in a dramatic increase or decrease in the number of persons coming (I made a reservation for 25 people). If you haven’t seen the previous post or if you’re listed as a maybe, please drop me a comment here to let me know if you’re coming! It’s not too late to register!
T R A N S P O R T A T I O N :
(Please let me know if you’re coming late! If you’re late to the meet, please follow the new schedule I’ve provided. Also, if you need help getting anywhere, please use Google Maps, Hopstop, or the official MTA subway map to find out how how/where to transfer trains.)
AMNH >>> Take the B or C train up to 81st Street. When you get off, walk up out of the station (don’t enter AMNH directly, as they have an entrance directly from the subway station) and you’ll notice the entrance to the planetarium. Wait for us in front of said entrance.
Kinokuniya >>> Kinokuniya is located on 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) between 40th Street and 41st Street. If you choose to join us there (something I don’t suggest, as if you decide to come late, there’s a tendency not to come at all-- I know this from experience), you can take the B, D, F, V, or 7 train to the 42nd Street - Bryant Park stop. Follow the signs in the subway station when you get off the train so you exit at the 6th Avenue exit (not the 5th Avenue one!).
USS Intrepid >>> Located on the West Side piers on 46th Street. The closest subway station is on 50th Street (C or E train); if you get off from said station, you’ll have to walk down to 46th Street, turn right when you hit said street, and then walk all the way down. If you get off at the 42nd Street - Port Authority station, walk up to 46th Street, turn left when you reach said street, and walk all the way down.
Bourbon Street >>> Located between 8th and 9th Avenue on 46th Street. Closest subway stations are the 42nd Street - Port Authority and 50th Street stations.

10:30 AM - 12:40 PM:
Meet in front of AMNH’s Rose Center, aka the Hayden Planetarium. We’ll be meeting outside said planetarium’s entrance, not through the other entrance. Please keep this in mind. We’re going to be watching the Cosmic Collisions show (optional btw) and also catching the live frogs exhibit.
12:40 PM - 1 PM:
Race against time to get to Kinokuniya.
1 PM - 1:50 PM:
Kinokuniya’s mini events, including GLB photoshoot and raffle.
2 PM - 5 PM:
USS Intrepid.
5 PM - 6 PM:
Kill time and do individual outfit shots.
6:15 PM - 8:30 PM:
Dinner at Bourbon Street. WOO, Cajun food! Meet officially ends after dinner.
8:30 PM - whenever:
AFTER MEET TIEM.
P R I C I N G :
* Metrocard
- $6 to $8
* Bourbon Street
- Check restaurant website for menu; approximately $25 give or take, including tip and tax.
* American Museum of Natural History
- Donate any amount you wish to get admission into the museum. The Cosmic Collisions show is OPTIONAL.
- Ticket for Cosmic Collisions: $20 in addition to museum admissions (adult); $16.50 in addition to museum admissions (students w/ valid ID)
* USS Intrepid
- $14.50 (high school students w/ ID); $15.50 (college students w/ ID); $19.50 (adults). Don’t forget to bring $1 to $2 for the service charge.
- FREE for Bank of America cardholders. Bring your BOA credit and/or debit card(s).
* Additional Events
- There may be additional events after the meet ends. Bring extra monies for that if you’d like.
K E E P i n M I N D :
- You are not required to wear military lolita, so please don’t feel pressured into doing so. You can if you want to, however. I don’t want anybody to miss/forgo this awesome meet because they thought they were required to wear military lolita.
- For the most part, this will be an INDOOR meet. In other words, we are meeting rain or shine. Therefore, those of you thinking of not coming because you suspect the weather’s gonna be humid or rainy, now you have an incentive to come. We don’t want you to miss out!
- If you decide you don’t want to come anymore, please let me know ahead. I won’t kill you if something unexpected comes up, but yeah, let me know ahead of time pl0x.
- Start preparing your outfits if you haven’t already done so.
- Bring your IDs and/or Bank of America debit/credit card(s) if you have have them.
If you are coming into the city from Grand Central Terminal and need help getting to the AMNH, I will be there around 10:10 AM to pick you guys up. I can’t wait around long though, so we’ll be gone at 10:17 AM. Please let me know if you need me to escort you, or else I’ll assume that you’re getting to AMNH by yourself!
Also, what do you guys want to do after the meet (those of you staying afterwards)? A movie? Get drunk at Kenka? Any suggestions?
