I'm watching everyone post all this stuff about weight, but no one really seems to ahve a plan. Or if they do, its some stuff like Atkins diet, where you can't eat pizza or anything inexpensive, and frankly, you have to be rich to have that kinda diet.
So what can we do to change it?
Stolen from a Reader's Digest Article:
Just change habits.
Sit down less, move more.
When you wake up in the morning, do some stretching.
Do 10 pushups. Hell, do even 5, anything works.
Walking up and down stairs for 2 minutes is the same as a 20 minute jog. (calorie burn)
If you're talking on the phone, get up and pace. ("Naturally thin" people sit 2.5 hours less than others a day).
Do anything you can do keep moving, even if you're swinging your legs, flexing your butt cheeks while stuck in car traffic, or even twiddling your thumbs.
Apparently, if you go to a calorie diet, the low fat cream cheeses and the seltzer waters actually work. My mother actually drinks them instead of high calorie drinks like even juice, for example. Blah, forget it for me though, seltzer tastes horrible. ^_^ Weis or Giant sells good flavored waters though, so :P
If, in the morning, you find yourself hungry, eat high protein things like mozzarella sticks, or stuff with fiber and water like apples. They'll "fill you up to keep you away from that pre-snack brownie". And honestly, I used to eat apples all the time, and though it won't work right away, it will work like 20 minutes later during class. I like to eat them during those early morning classes because otherwise I get 1)cranky during class and 2)I lose focus easily. And how much do apples cost? How much does swinging and clenching your legs during class cost? meh?
If you're offended or hurt that I wrote this, I'm sorry. If you want to yell at me, and say, "You don't know what it's like to be like this, so how can you write this?" If you want to say that, tell me, I'll punch you right in your face right this second. I am very tired of all this "You're metabolism must be really high" crap. No, it wasn't. No, it isn't. I used to be a fat little kid with huge glasses and a crooked-teeth grin. I had a good personality, but no one was going to see that. No one does at first. Only if they're FORCED to interact with you (same classes at school).
So yeah, I wasn't a pretty kid, I wasn't a skinny kid, I never was. But, guess what I decided? I decided I wanted to be. I did pushups everyday, I played on the computer a little less, I ate my apples, I ate one burger instead of two, I ate medium fries instead of large.
Hell, fucking metabolism has nothing to do it when you play frisbee for 4 hours a day. Play for half an hour and you can burn 50 calories, and that's not at a full sprint. So yeah, I can eat whatever I want, but that's because I'VE FUCKING EARNED IT.
Point is, there is no such thing as metabolism this or metabolism that as an excuse. It's yours. PWN IT, Bitches. I fucking KNOW York College is a depressive pit, but we can't give up, we've got to fight that authoritative emotionally oppressive cloud that hangs over all our heads.
So I'm saying, be a fucking rebel. The whole country is screaming out to us, "Eat more, Consume more, Be more." But sometimes, I think we need to try to be a little less.
