Your mama's on the top of my.... things to do list

Soo. Just got back from Sydney. Had a bunch of crazy times lately.

Had my birthday party on the Easter weekend, then went to see R.E.M. up in Brisbane after that, then had the school social. Social was remarkably crap but R.E.M. were beyond awesome.
As far as I can remember not much happened in the last week of term.

First week of the holidays: Went up to the lads' pad in Brisbane for a party. That was fun. Next day we went shopping, by 'we' I mean Whitney and Laurel thoroughly investigated every store and Brendan, Jamie & I sat outside and overused the 'chilli cook off' code. "I'd cook it!"
Proceeded to miss Rhyllie's party as a result.
Cat Empire on Saturday, pretty sure it was Saturday. They were great as always, it was different seeing them in a smaller space. We were right up near the stage, by that I mean Davo and I ended up a bit back and people would just materialise in front of us. Such as the drunk-middle aged lesbians who did not so much 'materialise' as 'push through while feeling each other up.' That was weird. And the climaxing chick who FOLLOWED US from Woodford, I swear.

Went down to Sydney on Wednesday, second week of the holidays. Went to the theatre three nights in a row: Democracy on the Wednesday, The Black Medea on Thursday, and Influence on Friday. I feel so refined. Democracy was suprisingly funny, I expected it to be totally serious, it's about politics in Germany before the Wall came down, and there's a spy in the West government. The spy was funny, but turned out a bit tragic, and the prime minister was very strong. Black Medea was intense, only an hour long, the old Greek story transposed into the modern Aboriginal situation, climax was Medea killing her son to deny her irresponsible alcoholic husband the one thing he loves. Influence was incredibly funny- David Williamson's last play, he really knowns how to write! All of the characters seem so true-to-life, it's about an Alan Jones radio type who goes on about how bad the Muslims and Lebanese and lesbians and etc are, with his leftist cousin and rightist wife- the climax of Act 1 was a four-way argument about the Israel-Palestine situation that he managed to make a total crack-up. My favourite character was probably the shock jock's daughter, going through her HSC and everything... my dad reckoned I could 'empathise' with her. Seemed so true-to-life. Need to find out the actress's name.

Luna Park on the Saturday, 12-hour music festival plus free rides. Hung around with Whitney, Rose and Kate as well as meeting Laksmi's friend and my internet friend Yvonne. She was cool, it's always a bit weird when you meet someone like that but it worked out fine. The rides were fun as, even though the pirate ship made you feel like you were going to fall out and kill yourself, and the mouse rollercoaster thingy felt like you were going to just fly off the rails. That kinda thing adds to the fun. Kate was the only brave one, Whitney and Rose pansied out. Went on the carousel and the ferris wheel twice each. Raging cockerels!

Bands I saw early: Redsunband, Love Outside Andromeda, Sarah Blasko. The latter was quite good but should probably lay off the crack.

The more well-known bands I saw at the end of the night: End of Fashion, Rocket Science, Spazzys, Butterfingers, Little Birdy. I only saw the last song by End of Fashion but I knew it! It's such a weird feeling when you see a band you've never heard of and hear a song you love from the radio or something. Rocket Science were mad, the guy looks and acts like Frankenstein but was all the better for it. Spazzys... all their songs sound identical, they generate energy by subdividing the beat heaps and capitalise on being all girls but I liked 'em nonetheless. Bassist was cool. Butterfingers ROCKED TEH HOUSE, probably my favourite, they're so cool. I need the CD, know a bunch of their songs already, they're all so comical, eg the subject for this update. It was weird because I was at the opposite side of the crowd to where they were playing, and the only one in my general area screaming the lyrics and cheering. It's good to stand out I always say. Last up were Little Birdy, I really like them, the lead chick goes off. I know about three of their songs now having heard them twice. Also need their CD.

Finished my physics assignment except I might need to cut bits out if it's true it must be 3 pages. Have to do a music assignment over the next two days plus figure out a piece to play fro my half-yearly assessment. And the musical in one month! Argh! I haven't looked at the damn script in weeks. Plus the first day back is a 13-hour day, the Wednesday: Band at 8 am, sport in the afternoon, musical until 9 pm. Joy of joys.

Well, having put off various updates for months, that was suprisingly easy. Until next time which hopefully won't be 3 months away.

P.S. is it just me or have they added new moods? eg my current one... I think I'll just pick moods based on whether the icon is cool from now on.
