I would like to say congratulations to the fans in attendance at the Carolina-Edmonton hockey game on Saturday night. In case you missed it, I will fill you in.

The game began with the singing of the U.S. National Anthem. Not just by the one man on the ice who has sung it for the past games, but by all fans in attendance. By the way did I mention that the games was played in Edmonton, Canada? Canadian fans singing the National Anthem for your United States of America. Not little parts either. The whole thing! I'd like to see a sporting event in the US when that happens. Then they sing the Canadian anthem. The guy on the ice sings the first few lines, holds up the mike and the fans sing the rest. Word for word. I had chills. Every hair on me was standing up.

I wrote this because these are people singing our National Anthem in a different country. Around every 4th of July, the late night talk shows (Letterman and Leno) go out into the streets and see if people know the words to THEIR National Anthem. As always people don't even know how it begins.

What a shame. People died so that you could sing that.

President Bush makes me upset. Saying that the National Anthem shouldn't be sung in another language. Does he forget who made this country. Immigrants from all over the world.

I think that the American people should be outraged. Making English the official language of the nation. Since when did that matter. We are fighting a war, gas prices are sky high, the economy sucks, people going poor, and he worries about the official language and whether or not the National Anthem should be sung in only English.

Imagine. I wrote this all because of what 18,000 people did at a hockey game.

By the way, go Oilers.
