Don't the hours grow shorter as the days go by
You never get to stop and open our eyes
One minute you're waiting for the sky to fall
The next you're dazzled by the beauty of it all
These fragile bodies of touch and taste
This fragrant skin this hair like lace
Spirits open to the thrust of grace
Never a breath you can afford to waste
When you're lovers in a dangerous time
Sometimes you're made to feel as if your loves a crime
Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Got to kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight
When you're lovers in a dangerous time
There are certain saying I use to put perspective to the difficult times. When I think about what I have passed by in my life, I remind myself that I am what I am today because I walked on by, and I like who I am. I am not perfect but I truly feel I have done the best I can. When a horrible day comes to pass, I tell myself that everything happens for a reason. I may not know it now, but in time it will make sense. When I feel dark and empty inside, I remember a Taoist poem talking about usefulness. Lao Tzu says "Shape clay into a vessel...It is the space within that makes it useful." I now understand the darkness inside me is where I store the what gives me happiness and contentment. If I feel empty then I must have plenty of room to grow.
I like the line "Nothing is worth having comes without some kind of fight....Got to kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight." Giving up on something you want is pointless. Better to keep fighting rather than wasting your time worrying. What's the line Victor Kruger (Clancy Brown in the Highlander) quotes from the Neil Young song? "It's better to burn out than fade away" Yeah!! Something about The Kurgan yelling that at Connor MacLeod that gets my blood pumping.
Though worry will I continue to do, I now have something with which to shore up the fence.
P.S.
I took out all the "lovers in a dangerous time" line because it is a bit redundant.
