let's get to the basics (an introduction) -

Oct 28, 2010 02:08

In Wisconsin, on March 24th, 1989 to be exact, there was a little baby girl born who just happens to be moi - a 21-year-old journalism major at the local college who lives at home.

Behind the computer, I go by Melissa (or, if you wanna call me Mel, that’s totally fine) and besides attempting this whole college thing (in my last year, whoo! :D), I’m pretty much your average 21-year-old. Okay, maybe I’m not really that average.

I like to hang out with my friends and have a good time, but I’m not that much of a drinker. :/ It’s strange, you’d think being freshly 21 (well, not too freshly, but still, a couple months), but whatever. Besides hanging with friends, I tend to surf the web a lot and hang out on communities within LJ or I go on gaiaonline and of course, I write. I usually just write fanfiction, but I tend to write my own fiction and I’ve dabbled in poetry a bit.

I love writing, period. I’ve been doing it since I can remember, really. It is pretty much one of my biggest passions, but I also love music and movies. I am a huge fan of each of those, specifically certain titles or musicians. And, this would be where the not that average thing comes in. I have this large, massive obsession with, currently, three things - David Cook, Inception, and Tom Hardy.

Funny that I like David Cook, wouldn’t you say? After all, this is an “idol” competition and the guy did win season seven of American Idol. But, anyway! I’ve seen the guy in concert eight times since he won in 2008 (once in 2008, seven times in 2009), travelling to a few different states to see him.

Then, there is this Inception thing I’ve become engrossed in. Anybody heard of it? Well, if you didn’t - it was the greatest movie of the summer and I think you should see it asap (comes out on DVD December 7th, whoo!). LOL. Anyway, I saw it once and I was instantly hooked - though, this could also be because I have this obsession with dreams. I don’t read in to them much, but I just think they are such an interesting concept and really? Going into people’s mind and creating dreams and characters? I AM ALL OVER THAT SHIT. rofl.

Tom Hardy goes along with this Inception love since he, if you don’t know, played Eames, the Forger in the movie. Amazing performance, and I’ve been watching a lot of his discography recently (because that’s what I do when I fall head-over-heels in love with people, lol) and he is just as awesome in all those other roles. He is very diverse, in my opinion, and is probably somebody you should watch for in the next year. He’s actually set to play in Nolan’s 3rd Batman movie (which, just got a title - “The Dark Knight Rises”) and he’s filming this romantic-comedy called This Means War with Chris Pine (Captain Fine, yea) and Reese Witherspoon as we speak. :)

I also have this love for Star Trek, TOS (The Original Series) and Reboot (2009). Funny thing is, I had never thought myself to like something sci-fi, but I saw JJ’s reboot and bam! I was in love with the whole entire verse. Something about those characters, just - they’re freaking fantastic.

Well, I think I’ve written a novel here. So, I’m just gonna cut it here. I’ll leave you with a few facts (boring facts, perhaps?) about myself.

- I work at the local movie theater, which is clearly perfect for me
- I have five pets - a yellow lab named Lexi, two cats - Joey and BabyBop (I was six, don’t judge), a fish named Spock and a rabbit named Dai-Chan.
- Other than writing, I love to read
- I’m very opinionated and like to say what’s on my mind
- But, I’m also a little shy.
- FIRST TIME WRITING FOR LJ IDOL AND I’M EXCITED! :D

That’s my intro, folks. Hope I didn’t bore you too much and honestly? I think what I’ve got down is really everything you need to know about me (which, might be a little sad, but at the same time, the truth. LOL). Can’t wait to meet new people and write. What more could I ask for? :)
