The Bad:
I got my rejection letter from NYU today. Surprisingly, I don't really care. I guess I figured no matter how much financial aid I got, it would still be horrifically expensive. It wasn't my #1 choice, and I didn't really want to deal with the politics of it. Ho-hum.
But...But...:
I ALSO got a REALLY CONFUSING letter from The New School today. I have gotten no acceptance/rejection letters from them yet, but they did send me a letter announcing I have a Creative Writing Scholarship, as well as a subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loan. I did apply for financial aid, but would they actually send me a letter saying I obtained this aid if I weren't going to get accepted? I'm so confused and actually really wired at the moment, because I don't know what's going on!!! I'm calling them first thing in the morning, because the New School Website-MFA in Creative Writing division, is giving me fuck-all information as of now. Well, it does say that they give a "limited number of scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need," but they also say that it is not necessary to have an admission decision to begin the financial aid process."
I have a feeling I'm going to be waking up and wondering about this all night long. Ugh, I don't even know if this is worth wondering about. I applied to one, maybe two schools for regular college. I'm honestly new to this whole letter-of-acceptance thing. I'm so confused!
Update: UGH, the New School letter is just to inform me of what Fin. Aid I am eligible for. I really think they should wait to send these until you actually ARE/ ARE NOT accepted.
