that's an awesome survey. 'when the pawn' is one of my favourite albums as well, and i was surprised by that. i'd had 'tidal' since it first came out, then stopped listening to it and sort of forgot about fiona apple until my roommate during my junior year of college had it. it was the only cd that we had in the room while we packed up to leave for the summer (as a friend had recently sent it to her and all of our other music was packed away) so we listened to it over and over again. i was amazed by how much i loved it. now i especially like to listen to it when i cook. that and french music. go figure!
I can't listen to "Tidal" for the most part. Its too mainstream adult-alternative, and she's so so much more than that. Which "When the Pawn..." proved. I hope it works as good cooking music! I think I would get too preoccupied with her lyrics if I were to cook with it on!
I think I would have a seizure if I ever saw the Manics live and they played "Yes"! I've read articles in the past where James mentions that parts of "Yes" are still too difficult for him to sing. I guess that proves how powerful of a song it really is.
I'm glad you enjoyed my getting into Pulp answer!!! I've been meaning to write a post all about my whole relationship with Pulp, but schoolwork is keeping me from writing it :/
I like "This is Hardcore" now! I was just stupid and didn't pay attention to lyrics and thought it was boring when I first bought it.
