Me and my crappy music musings, pt. 2

I just want to thank anyone who commented to my last post, because it made me feel like what I wrote actually made sense. I had a major stoner hangover all day yesterday, so I thought what I posted was even more nonsensical than usual. But it appears that it wasnt? So, thank you!

I wanted to add this to that post, but I was short for time. So this is the epilogue, I guess:

My 5 Favorite Concerts of the Year:

5) The Futureheads: Firstly, acoustic Futureheads were so good that even crappy Swatch logos couldn't fuck them up. Secondly, the actual Futureheads show marked the first night I saw this woman. Wow. She's so beautiful. And her husband is so ugly that wearing a shirt with French print and mentions of Franciose Hardy on it can't save him! Anyway, the Futureheads were very fun, and High Speed Scene didn't suck too much! And it was really cool that Jeff was there, because it was like having multiple great gig buddies in one room!

4) Bright Eyes/The Faint:  The Faint were the most spastic thing I've seen all year, and that is saying alot because I saw Daniel Kessler three times! And it was lovely seeing Nick Zinner again, even though he didnt take my picture. And Conor Oberst:  Having that animation of the owl drowning in its tears on-screen behind you doesn't make it any harder for us to make fun of you. Just so you know...

3) Easter with Interpol: Even though the setup for this gig seemed extra agonizing as the most awful set-up music ever was playing, the show itself was really special (because it was the first night I saw Blasco's skull belt). Then I went to the after-party and Jenny Penny was nice to me. And staring at Carlos' legs as he organized his vinyl was fun.

2) Beck:  We were late to this show and it was in a large venue, but it was awesome all the same. When Beck said "I've been trapped in this closet for so long, Just like R. Kelly....That song's got 18 parts to it, so this is going to be awhile," I wanted more than ever to forgive him for the Scientology thing. And Beck reassuring the crowd that there are alot of classy restaurants in Camdem was even more hilarious than he initially intended.

1) Pixies/Interpol/LCD Soundsystem: The venue was absolutely ridiculous, but then again, I don't think any part of the show wasn't. Having better seats than Blasco. Sam appreciating my Satan Salute. Carlos looking even more like a goth parody than usual. Sightings of various E-listers and entourage members. A bona-fide fat man actually rocking and moving more than the not-actually-fat man who opened for him. Watching Paul Thompson gnaw off his VIP bracelet on the train ride home. Nearly getting arrested for doing something everybody in NY does. I could go on and on here...But yeah it was a cool show.

***

I'd just like to add that, this year was sort of Cillian Murphy's year. My Cillian Murphy cred makes up for all the cred I lack in any other area of my life, pretty much. So, when all the ladies went crazy over Cillian in Batman Begins and that Red Eye movie, I kind of abandoned him. And I wasn't planning on taking him back, because it really does suck when people trample on your cred. But then _cherryvanilla_ christened him with the nickname "Nillian," and I had to take him back. So I think Nillian was the hottest man of the year, and I wish him success in '06.
