Wow, in looking back at my early LJ entries I see something dated back in April 06 for my warcraft account.
Unbelievalbe. With the exception of a short break I've been playing the game for over two years now. I marvel at how far I've come over the past two years.
Warning: some nostalgic moments ahead.
Back in 06 I was a wee little troll warrior named Taizajas. He grew up alongside his trusty pal Rheinar. We provided each other with intelligent conversation, quested together at times, joined the same guild(s), and raided the "end game" back before Burning crusade came out. When BC released we ran together much as we had done before, and both reached our pinnacle, level 70, just a few hours apart.
All this time my side project, Kaymorolis (affectionately known as Kay) was just a lowbie warlock. Unplayed and unappreciated.
Tai geared up for Karazhan, the first end game raid instance for a level 70, but never really got his shot at the big time. You see, I had burned out on tanking. Sure I can do it. I can actually tank quite well. I found it stressful, and never quite measured up to the other, more hardcore, tanks in my guild.
So I started to level my lowbie warlock, all the while avoiding official "end game" material like the plague. Eventually, tired of making excuses for why I wasn't participating, I dropped from the game to play Lord of the Rings online.
Evantually though, I came back, but with a new mission in life. Kay, whom I had left at level 68 1/2, would be my new "main". Tai would be...retired. But seeing my old guildies brought up a lot of issues. My old guild had grown beyond Kara. Kay, a fresh level 70, would never measure up to their expectations. I bid them, and the Vek'Nilash server, farewell, and transferred Kay to Exodar. A new server for a new beginning.
Sadly, my friend and long-time questing companion, Rheinar, quit the game the very week I resubscribed. I keep in touch with him via email, and hope to lure him back to the game with promises of phat loot gained through PvP (which he always loved).
Anyway, I tried forming my own guild. Big mistake. I searched for a guild working it's way through Kara (and looking for a warlock - no easy task), and eventually found Supremacy. The people seemed to be what I wanted - dedicated, serious, but fun at the same time. To them, there was no Tai. Just Kay. It was different, in a good way.
Kay has grown along side Supremacy. I've been there for most of the guilds first kills. We have nearly cleared Serpenshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep: The Eye. And I've earned the respect that I never could with Tai.
The really nice thing though is this: I've transferred Tai and Lirrana, my now level 70 Paladin, to Exodar as well. Tai is finally seeing the inside of Karazhan...as a DPS warrior, not a tank. It feels good to stretch the old trolls legs.
