Is Revolution Sexist?

I've been enjoying the series Revolution, but a thought struck me while in the bath
(as all the best thoughts do)
Is it actually oddly sexist?

Now on one hand Revolution is actually very progressive.
All the female characters are strong, intelligent and capable,
and there are pretty much as many main female characters as male ones.
I was especially pleased to see when Charlie (Charlotte) finally finds her brother she is the one saying 'get behind me' rather than switching to being the passive protected one.

By contrast the male characters are quite a sorry bunch.
Miles is a decent guy who was once one of the most ruthless and evil leaders in the country.
Aeron is a nice guy but no fighter and often gets pushed around.
Monroe is a complete lunatic, and Neville is beyond ruthless
Only Jason Neville seems to be an honest decent guy with no mental problems or tortured past.

However, this leads me to my concern, in that all the female characters, however capable, are all still pretty much the same. They are portrayed well but all follow the same template, one very similar to Ellen Ripley.

I'm all for strong female characters, but should there not be a variety of all types of female characters (strong or weak even) as there is with the men.

I suspect I only noticed this because as TV series go, Revolution is pretty egalitarian.
So I'm not pointing the finger and saying 'J'accuse' but I thought it worth offering to the forum of the internet.

stuff, pointless waffle, general, writing, telly
