drum corp thoughts and yesterdays events

Hello everyone. I must warn you all first and foremost...lol I am in somewhat of a band geek/dci mood so most of this entry will be about that. For those of you who dont know what DCI is well....ask me and I'll explain it though I doubt too many of you will actually care. Anyway, yesterday I'm on the internet looking at dci stuff simply out of boredom and I see a headline that puts the words DCI and ESPN2 together...turns out that this years Championship is gonna be broadcasted on ESPN2 on September 6th...its gonna be a 2 hour feature with behind the scene stuff and everything! I got sooo excited when I saw that, I mean its about time that DCI got some recognition in the sports world. It may look like mere marching band but anyone who really understands it knows that it is incredibly intense and difficult thing to do. I may never be in it or can never truly understand the things the people go through, but I have a huuuuge amount of respect for them. Here is a little example of what they can do and how others should never underestimate them. A member of drum corp that I met in high school at a band practice told us all that a test was done on members from several different sports...football, baseball, tennis, basketball and DCI. They monitored the heart rates of the players during the games and in the case of the DCI member during the show. They discovered that the dci member did more in those 12 minutes or so then many of the players did during the whole game. There is just so much passion and hard work put into it that they far and above passed the others. If that still doesnt convince you then imagine living on a bus for the summer, waking up early everyday and getting straight into practice. And not only practicing but doing it alllllll day. I pretty much know what I'm talking bout too cause Patrick was in drum corp last year and told me lots of stuff about it. I respect him so much just hearing the stories..I mean I cant possibly imagine it. Ok enough about that lol. But yeah for any DCI fans or anyone simply curious about what its all about watch ESPN2 on September 6th...I can promise you it will be worth your time! It should be a good season with some possible head to head action between the cavaliers and the blue devils. Who knows who will come out on top this year (probably the cavies lol). Yesterday not much went on. I had fun with my family and spent time with Patrick and later on with his friends at village inn.
