Anyway, the bailout vote failed on a 228 no, 205 yes. Of course the first thing to happen afterwards are the partisan attacks. McCain said that it was Obama's failure to bring more democrats to vote yes on the bill that led to it's failure. I find this really funny considering that 133 (or ~ 60%) of republicans voted no on the bill, and 90 (~40%)democrats voted no. McCain says that he turned 61 republican no votes into yes votes then criticized Obama for not doing enough. I find this hard to swallow because even if Obama would have turned 61 democrat no votes into yes votes, IT STILL WOULD HAVE FAILED! McCain has no room to criticize Obama because his party still had 2 thirds voting against the bill.

I don't really know how to feel about this bailout. I'm no pro on economics but this things feels off to me. For starters I don't trust the executive branch at all so I'm hesitant to listen to Henry Paulson, coming from the same people that said that there was no problem with the economy for the last 2 years and then BAM! a problem. I'm no economist, but i know that things don't just happen out of the blue. events like these always stem from problems that have existed for a long period of time that people refuse to look at and try to fix with short term fixes like putting gum on a damn leak, until it bursts.

On the response of "this is socialism," I couldn't care less if it was, my ultimate question is will it work? So if they are going to spend trillions of dollars on this, i want it to be different. Not just "here's a trillion dollars go fix the economy."

Of course there is the reason to want it to fail to see the country flounder after years of deregulation and republican leadership. I mean i always enjoy a little "you get what you deserve" in my politics.
