here is the mini rant from my Exit Survey about Kohl's.
I originally typed out a VERY long answer, but had to cut it up since the survey wouldn't expect it. I ended up putting the things I cut out in to the Additional Comments? section. I know it's probably chopping and with errors, I was getting to frustrated having the survey error out and make me start over. But I'm sure they still got my point! and considering some of the morons they hire my answer are probably far from the most poorly constructed.
What could Kohl’s or its Associates have done differently to get you to stay?
It would have taken a lot for me to stay at Kohl's or consider working there again. For starts I feel I was grossly underpaid for the amount of work I was expected to do, as well as my loyalty to the company for three years. I do not feel like cooperate truly understood the work of a sales associate, or frankly does not care about their associates. It is exceptionally unrealistic to expect one person to handle three fitting rooms alone, it is physically impossible. The store was always short staffed in general, making it very stressful to get work done properly and on time. Cooperate is far too focused on customer service and making a profit to focus on their associates and the unrealistic expectations put on them. I truly feel that all Cooperate employees should spend one week working in a busy store to see what it is really like, before they start making rules and expectations about a job they truly do not understand at all. It was extremely frusterating taking orders from someone who clearly did not understand what it was like to work on the department floor. The only thing that could have potential kept me from leaving this job would have been cooperate taking the time to get off their high horses and see what it was like working at the bottom of the totem poll. Sales associates are what keep your store running, and help to support your pay check, so it would be important to you to truly understand there job and it's difficulties, before you go and place rules and expectations that are ridiculous.
Additional Comments?
It is exceptionally unrealistic to expect one person to handle three fitting rooms alone. Not only is the associate expected to empty the fitting rooms packed full of people and clothing, but also button, zip, size and put away the clothes. This is physically impossible. Yet cooperate seems to think that one person can completely do this task and then some. There should always be two fitting room associates at all times. Also there never seemed to be enough payroll set aside for extremely busy sale days. The store was always short staffed in general, making it very stressful to get work done properly and on time. While I understand how having people open Kohl's charges is important to the store, I found it rude and demanding to expect us to get so many. Opening a Kohl's charge with a customer is treated like the easiest task in the world, when it is not. It's extremely difficult in today's economy, but yet our jobs depends on it. Also there is an extreme lack of loss prevention, which costs the store a lot of money. There should always be an LP in the store at all times during store hours.
