Isn't a grounded ceiling just a floor?

A week ago this last Sunday, the power went out during a storm. It was out for nearly 18 hours. That meant the a/c didn't work, no internet, no watching tv with a digital tv converter, no movies...and no sump pump.

Water backed up in the basement, and doused the pilot of the water heater. Soooo....three days without hot water. I didn't really notice until late Tuesday.

During one of the storms, the wind brought down the tiniest of branches on my roof. At a perfect 90 degree angle, piercing a shingle. I noticed spots on my bathroom ceiling, but there had ALWAYS been spots on my bathroom ceiling. There is no exhaust in there, little ventilation. Then the ceiling started to bow. When my landlord's handyman came to relight the pilot light that wouldn't relight, I meant to have him look at it. I forgot to ask him. In the meantime, gravitiy proved true, and it kept bowing more...and more.

He was to come back Thursday to try relighting the pilot light. I was leaving for band, but left a note asking him to look. At some point Thursday evening, I got a picture message from Gretchen, she had stopped here to get the dogs while I was gone. "Note from ----, temp fix, and here is the bathroom." The ceiling was now housed in my bath tub, which by any standards makes for a lazy and VERY ineffective ceiling. I fired it on the spot.

I had spent the two days prior in eastern Iowa. I had stood on a friends porch, watching a storm roll through. I remember watching the rain and the clouds, and thinking, "I don't want to deal with an "exlploding" house, I don't want to have the neighbors trees continually fall in my yard, I don't want to drive so many miles each week to experience the very highlight of my week."

So I'm not going to.

I'm going to move back to Wilton, in with my dad for the time being. I'm leaving here, and going there. I have a lead on a job there, or near there. And if not that, I'll keep looking. Me, the dogs, and as little as I can manage to not throw out.:P

And...there seems to be a plethora of things to get rid of.
