Ohioana Book festival

So today was the Ohioana Book Festival and I got a late start. Otherwise it was a great day. Sure I had to participate in the Hunger Games to find a parking spot and the library's parking garage is underground and I was so deep Morlocks nearly got me on the way to the elevator.

Still I am SO GLAD they moved this fest to the library vs the downtown hotel it used to be at where you had to park a block away at a 10$/two hour lot you had to keep racing back to. I should have gotten there earlier though because I managed to hit it when all the authors I wanted to see were at a panel and I had to wait an hour with my arm falling off under the weight.

I got to see Leanna Renee Hieber (you've heard me mention her before, we hang in the same steampunk circles) plus a few of the other authors I usually buy from like Mindy McGinnis and Amanda Flower. I met a few others I've be given arcs from and a youngish woman I bought from last time who hugged me today. I got so many books here's an actual picture of my credit card afterward

Of course 40$ of that were two baby books for my cousin's baby shower (she asked for books vs cards) I knew they'd be that much. Mom about fainted when I told her. I bought stuff I might not usually do but it was good (as if I needed new books, as if I've read all the ones from LAST Ohioana) The one I'm looking forward to most is the 24/7 demon mart series book one.

I did make a trip up to Trader Joe's (In retrospect I should have gone to the one in Easton and I didn't because I go to the one in Dublin because I always go up there but I was right down town) My god the Scioto river was high and flooding in places. got stuff. Turned around went back downtown to German Village because I'm a dingdong who forgets it's Saturday and there is no prayer of me getting into Schmidt's Haus for their amazing cream puffs and I love their saur braten.

Not only do I have no prayer there's a birthday party and I think all of Columbus was invited based on the amount of people there but by some miracle a few blocks away the Old Mohawk bar/restaurant has an on street parking space open AND I can roll right in because it's the end one!!! It's been a bar for 91 years (for my non-American friends this is surprising in this country) and I used to go there in the 90s. Reuben and potato pancakes!!!

In spite of it being the weekend I decide to hit the casino. I hit a bonus on the first spin. Not a huge win but fun. Almost lost my first twenty, switched to a Linda Carter Wonder Woman machine, got it all back and left.

As much as I'd probably rather be Vaggie, as I sit in the casino with a beer in one hand and the other repeatedly slapping the respin button on the slot machine, I'm obviously Husk (I'm even grumpy and swear a lot) #HazbinHotel

So before I left Columbus I asked my parents do you want me to call you when I get home. No, you don't have to. No, because they planned to call me at 1130 at night and give me a heart attack. Thought someone died.
