I decided today since we're 8 days out I could cut away that dermabond around each incision. I'm allergic to glue on bandages so I only put it over the worst of the incisions and steri strips on the two other port incisions. I think I should have sucked up the itch because that one is completely healed. The one on the right is healing but the one on the left is pretty angry so I put some neosporin on it. None of them are concerning but they are definitely healing at different rates.

So I could go to galaxy con on the first, I made the rough drafts of my final exams now (especially since I changed the materials taught this semester) that ate up my whole day. Other than that Mom and I are trying to work on my Eda wig, separating out the two wigs and trying to make just one work. It looks possible (Mom was a hair dresser so she's way better at this than me)

For fandom tuesday let's talk about loyalty kink
or at the very least a loyalty trope. I was talking about it with sysann the good and the less good (I mean, if you are loyal no matter what without any thought, that could be a dangerous thing. Hunter for half of S2 of The Owl House is a great example of this) It has a rich vein of emotions to mine from a story telling point of view.

One of my favorite examples are Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist (If you look at the above link some fans love one-way loyalty such as Hunter and his uncle but I prefer it going both ways which is what we have here).

This fanvid is one of many Royai amvs out there but the song selection very much sold it for me. It captures Riza very well. She turned herself into a weapon for Roy and her belief in his vision for their country.

I wish we had had more of Roy's time with his alchemy master (Riza's father). When they meet back up after Roy has joined the military she wonders if she remembers her. It seems either he wasn't there long or maybe she had been sent away to a bordering school (though Hawkeye lived in poverty) It was a very strange (and unfortunate) statement (that I personally tend to ignore in my fanfic. They knew each other well there). I wanted to know really what was it about Roy that made Riza dedicate herself to him so fully.

She joins the military and finds she has a talent for sharpshooting. We see her later, eyes hollow, war taking its toll. She and Roy make several pacts. He will destroy the only written version of his alchemy (tattooed to her back by her father) and she will guard his back until he ends the type of government that is always looking for war.

The true test of the loyalty, however, is the pact they make about his abilities. Roy's fire could easily make him a dictator should he want to try. The agreement they come up with is if Roy strays from the righteous path, a more peaceful one, Riza will shoot him dead. He knows her gun has two bullets in it always, the second for her because she can't live on having killed him. He would not cause her death so it keeps him honest. I both love this and find it creepy in a way.

My biggest complaint of how it was eventually tested in canon was Riza prevented Roy from destroying Envy a monster in need of killing because it was 'revenge for Envy murdering Maes' and not part of doing things for the good of country. Edward agreed with her and she and Ed both agree that Envy needs to die (Riza was going to do it). Why it falls so flat for me is no one had issues with Roy killing Lust and everyone trying to wipe out Gluttony. These homunculi need to be eliminated. What it really seemed like was a) they needed to test the loyalty b) give Envy its very own death scene (which was cool) that Envy wouldn't have gotten if Roy had fried him like a chicken wing. It just didn't feel right

Snippet - His dark eyes lit up. She’d have to be appreciative very carefully. “Will your friend be coming with you?”

“Grace? Maybe.” As much as Al hoped that would stand as a warning but it wasn’t going to be. She knew that based on that sly look on his face. He was calculating how to get her alone. If she suggested Dan was her boyfriend now, she’d lose whatever Robert might have to tell her.
