So there is good news

The diabetes has not touched my eyes. Huzzah. I can't feel my feet but at least I'm not going blind. The eye doctor did give me the correct prescription in my left eye and the astigmatic contact for the worsening astigmatism in my right. In the five minutes I wore them before having to have the dilation, I can say the weighted contact for astigmatism is a bitch and I'm probably gonna hate it. And he's right, with the left contact fixed (he undercorrected it so I could read but I'm literally unable to see road signs at a distance that is anything over about 20 feet) I can't read almost at all. So do I want to go undercorrected and just wear my glasses any time I'm going somewhere new and need to read road signs or do I want to wear readers? I'll get a week to try it out and decide.

But of course it was mid west grey all week but the day I have to get my eyes dilated there's sun everywhere. I also did the wash and grocery shop because the storm will be here (in theory) on normal grocery day and I AM a food hoarder so... I had taken a half dozen magazines to read while waiting on laundromat, diabetic/weight watcher recipe mags. Couldn't find anything to go buy at the story that I wanted to make. THen it hits me. You're sitting in the library next door to the laundromat. Go find a cook book and so i did but could barely read it (thank you dilatd eyes). Nothing says fun like grocery shopping when you're practically have double vision and everything is blurry. I also decided that meant I couldn't go to Arch and Eddie's for a beer and dinner because I couldn't read my book so I called the Mexican place for chile rellenos take away because I'm BEAT.

THis morning was even WORSE. I knew I was fucked when I got up the hill at 7 AM and a)I started down the highway mostly sideways and b) the 18 wheelers were going 20 mph instead of flying. Now I've been finding that the road at 7AM is usually packed (far more so than I knew) but today I was the only moron out there leading me to believe the other people are teachers etc and all the schools were closed today. An 18 wheeler did jack knife and fall over at Jackson keeping my students from class. WHy did I keep going? a) most of my students were already underway and I didn't want them to drive for nothing and b) i'm a special brand of stupid.

I pulled another gallon plastic bag's worth of fiberglass out of the vents.Today I got pissed and ripped them out of the floor and just dug in there, hoping this isn't when rodent decides to show up. I'm giving the bag to the landlord. If he's lucky I'll staple the rent check to the bag, if he's unlucky it will be IN the bag of fiberglass.

So house hunting. mom found this house It's kinda perfect in many ways but the price. Unless this comes down a lot, there's just no way. I can't afford this.

In many ways I've coveted this house for 9 years. scroll down to brick house on south street Pros - it's cute, it's a block from the library, it's two doors down from my favorite pizza place in Jackson, it's brick.

Cons - it's IN TOWN and I hate that. It's right next door to child services (which seems like a place that attracts bad elements on occasion), the bathroom was obviously originally OUTSIDE the house (well it is old), the view is of crowded houses, it's in town (it bears repeating), it's still not the Athens/Albany area and there's jack to do in Jackson (appropriately named). Still, I like this house.
