Writerly Ways

Today I'm just talking nano prep. First off Behind Blue Eyes, just STFU. I'm not writing you. Yes, I know I should. You want to be written and be a duology. If worse comes to worse, I'll break you out.

Sequel to Kept Tears I should be writing you too but I have no freaking plot. I just have some random ideas and that more than blows. I mean seriously more than blows because people wanted to see more and for the twins to get a role.

So on to the story I plan on writing Blood Red Roulette. Yes, I do have some of this done but no, I'm not counting that. I have about 25-30K done but that leaves a good 50 to make it a nice meaty novel so I'm good. Frankly some of that was really written 20 years ago. I DID start this in South Dakota when I was doing my residency. of course it was in New Orleans then and I didn't have all the skills I do now. For that matter Luc and Arrigo were never lovers there (because frankly in the 1990s writing LGBT stuff could be dicey and the market nothing like it is today).

So the scenes that came to me:

1. not so much a scene but an honest wondering how in the hell do you find anyone in a city the size of Las Vegas? Arri and his team don't have the legal resources to scan cell phones and track credit cards (oh I suppose I could have the chiascuro have that ability but unlike the Soldiers of the Sun, this group of demon fighters is in the shadows) I have no idea how to make it look like Arri et al are even tracking Eleni down.

2. still not so much of a scene but the acknowledgement that Eleni might be working with a Renfield (male or female I'm not sure yet, leaning toward male). She is the type of vampire who sees humans as cattle at best. She holds all the cards because she knows where Arrigo lives and works and he has no idea where to find her. that said, it might be helpful to have at least one other person helping to keep an eye on Luc and Taabu.

3. Once Arrigo fears Eleni thinks Luc means more to than he does, he wants to be seen around town with Siobhan but suspects Eleni would never go after Siobhan because as far as vampires goes Siobhan is her match

4. Luc sees Arrigo with Siobhan and gets pissed (that might make it easier to get him into Eleni's clutches). He already suspects Arrigo is just fucking with him because there is this huge gulf between him and Arri (educationally, monetarily) and that is an issue that needs dealing with.

5. Worries I can't deal with that gulf believably

6. Worries that the market for this would be better in DSP's new non-romance imprint which is still invite only (they printed a short story in this so I have to send them this first). Because in reality, Arri isn't in love (at least not in the beginning with Luc. He just thinks Luc's hot). They get closer once Luc is turned

7. Something I never thought of 20 years ago. Why in the hell DOES Eleni turn Luc? Why not just kill him? I decided that she believes Arrigo is a self-hater because he has a fondness for humans. She thought this would hurt him more. Not sure that's believable but it's what I'm stuck with.

8. Why does she abandoned Luc instead of keeping him for herself (No logical explanation yet other than leaving him lost and confused amuses her).

9. Back to #1, once Eleni does Luc in, how do I hunt her down? Man I do not think like a P.I.

10. Luc's family knows a wealthy man has been talking to Luc and wants to set Arrigo up for being robbed. Luc doesn't plan to comply but I need fall out from that I think.

Haven't written much so no new yearly count. Still don't have Soldiers of the Sun done. Whimpers.
