Utopia. An ideal and perfect place. Or so the definition goes. Sara O'Shaughnessy ponders this as she wanders through a grassy plain on the outskirts of what supposedly is their utopia. So much so that, when this place had been founded, it had been named Utopia. She scoffs and kicks carelessly at the grass threatening to trip her over, glancing up at the bright blue sky overhead. It looks perfect, but...
"Hello, Ms. O'Shaughnessy," a chilling, familiar voice greets her.
She straightens up and stares at the pale skinned, blond man approaching her, his hands in his slacks pockets. "Hello, Ven," she greets him coolly. He doesn't seem impressed by her dismissive response to his presence but she doesn't care, turning and walking away from him without another word spoken.
He merely watches her go, a smirk on his face.
Connie Chester is waiting for her when she arrives, brushing her long, red hair out of her eyes while the gate closes behind her, giving her a chance to catch her breath after the lengthy walk back from the fields. "Sara! There you are," the woman exclaims, gripping her arm and lowering her voice as she peers back and forth. "Ven is looking for you," she murmurs.
"I guessed as much," Sara says. "He found me in the fields."
"What did he want?" When Sara shrugs, Connie's eyes double in size. "Sara! You didn't ignore him, did you? What if he does something to you because of it?"
"I don't care," she responds stubbornly, continuing to walk through the quiet, peaceful road that divides two rows of wooden or brick houses. "I can only make my feelings towards him obvious so many times before I get tired of repeating myself. He'll take the hint at some point."
"He's the leader of Utopia, I don't think it'll be as easy as that," Sara's blonde friend insists, her blue eyes full of fear for the woman next to her. "Sara, please, be careful--"
"I am, Connie. You don't have to worry so much," she soothes her. "Besides, don't you have your own relationship to fret over? Has he proposed yet?"
"No," she sighs. "I'm hoping soon though..."
As the two women walk side by side through the town, discussing their various personal lives, neither are aware of eyes locked on them from above, a form standing on one of the mountains that pokes up near the gates to oversee what's going on inside. As they disappear inside a building, so does the mysterious observer, leaving nary a trace behind.
