At some point, I really would like to count how many times I've made the trip from New York to DC. For whatever reason. I mean, yeah, there was that whole *living in DC for almost five years* part, but, plus cons, plus conferences, plus just hanging out with friends. Hell, the one time I went down for a concert and back up again.
I mean, at this point, also the biggest fallacy would be imagining that DC doesn't change. Though, hey, *some parts of DC* don't really change, do they?
We're going down again this weekend, just another quick there-and-back. Hey, maybe I really should just make it a point to show my face in DC for one reason or another at least once a year. I mean, if I want to try showing my face in Moscow at least once a year, and that's a flight, how difficult can DC be?

...still find it so very ironic, actually, that the next time I'm most likely going to be in Baltimore will be the year after next, when both the SLA *and* the AALL conferences are going to be at the Convention Center!

Of course, *with* all the stuff that's been going on in the last couple of months, yeah, anime was just kind of not that much of a priority (...anime cons, hey, that's a whole other question!). So, damn near missed the spring season. Eventually finished Kiznaiver - individual parts *definitely* much better than the whole. *Wanted* to really get into Joker Game - as much as it's even possible to get into an anime that tries so aggressively to be somber and serious and humorless and not otaku!friendly at all...and, well, at least Flying Witch is still there, and total anime comfort food! Of this summer season, the only one I'm even trying to make an effort for is Alderamin. But, I guess, hey, I really am at a point where a show has to really be Something to not just get my attention, but to then keep my attention!

Ten years ago, right around this time - waiting oh so much for the last Xenosaga game. And now, hey, waiting very much for the next Trails of Cold Steel game!
...it's really not until you play other RPG's *after* playing this one that you really notice how much the series does differently. Again, even if it is the little things, even if it is just that every single NPC in the game has an actual name, and quite a few of them do stick around! Well, and, of course, yeah, how often *do* you get to spend 80+ hours of game time around the same group of characters - and then, a few months later, get to spend *another* 80 with them!
(...and, of course, just from a pure design point of view, I really do want to see how this game will handle the possibility that not everyone who is playing it *did* play the first one! Yeah, just the story is one thing - but, if you *are* starting at zero, do you, uh, *actually* start at zero, no weapons, no skills, no nothing? And, for that matter, if you're *not* starting at zero, what exactly will get carried over?)
