That's right, I've watched enough of the office that when we had a coworker quit I bought a cake, suck it corporate America.
Uhm... other than that.
I'm trying to get my home inspected so I can get the remodel tax write off, it's a pain but potentially worth it.
C hiked 26 miles with a pack on! That's a keeper.
I'm starting to appreciate time off work, hiking, housework, cleaning, working on cars. when the numbers play out it's almost fiscally sound to take my weekends...
God Crow Creek Pass was amazing, 26 miles of epic views, up and down a mountain.
At the river crossing there was a troop of army folks, they'd just crossed. One of them was phoning in on a sat phone that they'd all made it across safely. They were making camp and warming back up. when I got to the other side I dropped my pack and started back over the river, had to cross back and forth 3 and a half times (the last time was a friend who got halfway across and stopped going forward)
two things that this story was supposed to illustrate.
1. Those military guys were amazing, helpful in every way. It sucked royally going back and forth but they let me warm up by the fire.
2. If you're 18 you're a man up in AK, we had an 18 year old brother of a friend with us who was a bit shocked to find out he was in the ferrying group, not the (ferry-ee?) group.
day trading looks like fun, but I don't think I'd ever do it with my own money. Every time I hear about a ponzi, or a madoff,or goldman sachs I wonder why people keep thinking they can beat the market. Every successful investment strategy I've seen avoids those things but people get taken in again and again by the promise of low risk high reward strategies.
On that note, poker night on Thursdays is officially a tradition.
Life is fun, college starts up again soon, looped back to my EE degree, then hopefully an MBA.
Got a promotion at work, not the promotion I was gunning for but it's still pretty nice.
My to do list is huge alas.
