I like her better than Severine. There's the same basic structure but Melanie is more... something. Words are escaping me but then I don't really need any, you've already brought them.

Melanie grows up tough, she grows up tough and smart, a special kind of smart, not her mother's or her father's; she cuts sharper than either of them.
