I need you to help me with a problem.
I've been expirimenting with painting lately - mostly watercolors.
And though I haven't had the time to REALLY dive into it for large chunks of time, I've spread enough pigment around to realize that I have no idea what I'm doing.
This is incredibly frustrating because most of what I do has been self taught. It's very defeating to not be able to sit down, look at something, and replicate it in some way.
I've sought out online tutorials, bought a couple books, and pulled out a stack of old Artist's Magazines from the 80's (which my dad wrote for) and everything I create is still a mess.
I think the problem lies in the materials. These foreign materials I haven't used before. I can get the color theory and the shapes and the forms and the light and the that and the stuff. I use those things all the time.
But these paints! And the brushes! And the things and the things! I just don't know what I'm doing with them.
I'm sure a proper painting class is in my future - once I track one down that suits my needs (I don't want to spend 12 hours at a community college learning to paint morning glorys on pottery) but I have neither the money nor the steady schedule required to take one right now.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!
If there are ANY cartoonists/artists out there who would like to let me in on their next little painting session. Give me a call!
I'll hover and watch and ask lots of annoying questions and may also borrow all your paints and equipment.
DOESN'T THAT SOUND LIKE FUN!
OK, I'll buy my own stuff. But I still insist on hovering. (I come from a long line of hoverers)

If you have my cell number, feel free to give me a call - but at the new place my phone doesn't get very good reception.
TEACH UNTO ME!
(This includes you, Shane!)
