Lunchtime poll!

So, after quite literally years, I am finally updating my fic site. I'm also tweaking the site architecture a little, to accomodate the writing I've done in that time. There are a couple of decisions I've gone back and forth on, so rather than decide arbitrarily, I thought I'd ask ( Read more... )

Oh, that's actually a tougher question than you think it is ;)

Because do you want to organize all your stories by date? Or first separate them into fandom and then by date? Or, separate them out by fandom and other variables, such as length, pairing, style, (slash*,) universe... And of course the same thing for alphabetical listings?

In general, I don't care so much as long as the stories are reasonably labelled and in *some* order. I also prefer that if stories in a series aren't grouped together on the index page, that there's an explicit link given in the summary and on the story page. It's easy for authors to forget that some of us come in late and haven't been following its progress.

I guess I have a preference for date-ordered posting, but that's mostly so that I can quickly see their most recent stories, which for multi-fandom authors I think is best accomplished by having a separate page or section for announcing the newest stories. I think it covers the most bases.

Truthfully, I really think that the page-order is very author specific, and as long as there is *some* sort of order it's probably right.

*What is the generic term that encompasses slash, het, and gen?
