A few summers ago,
yahtzee63 and I saw a Leonard Cohen tribute concert in Prospect Park called "Came So Far For Beauty." Well, they kept on doing the concert in various cities around the world, and a movie was made of two shows in Australia (very uninventively called Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man.)
I missed the film's run in NYC because I was on the road, but as soon as I heard there was a motion picture soundtrack, I knew I needed it, for two tracks in particular -- Martha Wainwright's "Tower of Song," and Rufus Wainwright's take on "Everybody Knows," in which he, in his words, "fagged it up."
Basically, if you've ever wondered what a Leonard Cohen song would sound like if it was orchestrated for Doris Day, well,
now you know.
The whole CD is completely worth getting, and highly recommended. Go, buy!
