Progress.

I have a long and seemingly getting longer list of Things to Do. Some of them get bumped to the fore, like the one I finished today. My Halloween tree. It's a branch that died during Florence on one of our bushes that I kept because it is a branchy branch with lots of twigs I thought would look good as a Halloween tree. I stuck it into a pot of dirt, wrapped the pot in a plastic bag (since I didn't want to paint the pot) and sprayed it flat black. Then, I sprayed on more flat black and doused/sprinkled orange glitter over the top. Then a thick coat of clear gloss spray. Because, glitter. There is likely to be glitter in my yard for the next decade. I had a small string of Jack'o'lantern lights, battery powered, and hung those on there. Some of them are out, but, eh. It still works for me. And I made a black cat from cardboard, sprayed that flat black, added red rhinestone eyes, and put her behind the tree. It's on my porch now and I'm pleased. The whole project, including drying time, took perhaps an hour after I got the materials together.

And, I had a LARGE backlog of old magazines I meant to tear out interesting articles/pictures, some of them from the nineties or earlier (yes, yes-- I am a packrat). I have about 20 left. Most of the recipes I've pulled from them are already arded, except the ones I pulled today. I should be done with the magazines tomorrow. THen I need to put the articles into my binders. Of course, there will be more magazines, but I'm catching UP finally.

I'll probably put off bindering the articles for later. I need to finish my Yule presents for the dogs (quilted blankets they probably won't use and which the cats will undoubtedly pee on, but, hey), and make pins/tie tacs for my coworkers. Those should come first, since next month I will probably not have much time to do them since it's NaNoWriMo time again. I also need to come up with a costume for Halloween. Hmm. And carve my pumnpkin, but I'm thinking Saturday would be better for that. I don't want it to rot before Halloween, after all.

Oh, if anyone's interested I can try to relearn how to post pics of my Halloween tree. *chuckles* And who knows? Perhaps I'll also relearn how to make a cut again so anyone who doesn't want to see my whole post won't have to scroll through it....
