Will Hydrogen power be a part of what Thomas L. Friedman, in his book "Hot, Flat and Crowded" calls "the energy climate era?" Why does he never mention hydrogen? Is it just a pipe dream?

This conference presentation by video is a couple years old, but back then it sure seemed like hydrogen had a great future as a clean energy source. Did the argument that a hydrogen powered future 'would require a massive capital investment to transform the current infrastructure' eventually do it in?

Just wondering.
