Two things of note I want to share:
First: Baby on the Road: Thoughts from Places - if you don't already watch the Vlogbrothers you're missing out but take a sec to watch this one. There's something about it, John's thoughts about roadtrips and journeys and home, that's just plain... lovely. I think it's my favorite Thoughts From Places. Also, his son Henry is beyond adorable.
Second: New edition of Huckleberry Finn to lose the N word. WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK. I don't care if this is supposed to be a 'school edition' so that kids in high schools with crazy conservative school boards can finally read this book. THEY'RE NOT ACTUALLY READING HUCK FINN. What the fuck. Ugh, I get that the issue is actually the fucking ridiculous school boards and the idiot parents who challenge the book because they have no concept of HISTORY and CONTEXT and the fact that the book not only serves as a lesson in great literature but a lesson in history as well, but CHANGING THE FUCKING BOOK IS NOT THE ANSWER. I'm sorry. I apologize for my language. I just... book censorship brings out my inner ragemonster and I have a lot of feelings about it and Mom and I ranted to each other about it earlier today. People should read books the way they were written because not all lessons are hidden within the story. Some lessons can be learned just by looking at the words on the page.
