"Tonight?" The Doctor blinks in surprise, then reaches out and pats one of the monitors: "Very sorry, dear, you dropped me off on time after all. Anyway," he turns back to the Middleman and Wendy, "if you go after the Newtonian Earthworm tonight as planned it would throw a particular timeline all out of whack and two of my very dear friends would be stuck in Ancient Egypt for a very, very long time. Long enough, in fact, to be rather a part of the ancient... ness. Not that it's ancient right now, mind you; you see, they're there and I suppose it's present Egypt for them but this little jaunt to get you creates a neat little hole and we can scoot in and grab them before present Egypt become ancient--"

THIS ENTIRE BIT IS PERFICK. I CAN HEAR HIS VOICE IN MY HEAD.

"You can do whatever you like, just so long as you sit there and don't hunt Newtonian Earthworms."

"I imagine as long as we keep walking in the direction of trouble, we'll find them in no time at all."

"I must admit I was looking forward to some action tonight," the Middleman shrugs. Amy raises an eyebrow in amusement and the Middleman hastily withdraws his steadying hand from her elbow. "Not - geeminee christmas - not action as in-- I simply meant--" he's blushing to his ears now "--the Doctor took us away from a rather interesting creature hunt tonight and I was under the impression your rescue would get the adrenaline pumping--"

I AM CRY.

"You gonna be okay driving home? Or do you wanna crash on our couch, flirt with Lacey in the morning over cold cereal?" She's teasing but it's an honest offer.
