I'm studying for my first Vampires in Film test (hehehe I'm studying vampires) and I've finally gotten around to looking at the handout Dr. F gave us last week as we walked out of class. It's a comparative study chart of vampire mythology between World of Darkness, Forever Knight, Anita Blake, Anne Rice, and - the only one I care about - Buffy. It goes through everything: general info, identifying features, how one becomes a vampire, how to kill/hurt vampires, invitations, how vampires function in the daytime, hierarchy, relationship with animals and other supernaturals, everything. That was less than half of the category titles; this thing is five pages long, tiny type. I love it! It's so neat, all this info in one place. However, there are a couple "no info" answers in the Buffy column that I'm pretty sure were talked about on the show. :P

Okay, this one makes me laugh: Vampires are compelled to stop and count numerous objects (often grain) thrown into their path. Never heard of that one. And according to this chart, it's not true in any of the five books/tv that are being compared. Where the hell did it come from? [And now I have this image in my head of Spike sitting on a sidewalk counting grain and swearing up a storm every time he looses his place. And Xander is standing there laughing at him. Okay, I'm done.]

I love this class.

tv: buffy, vampires, school
