Long past few weeks.

Ain't felt like talking too much.

Too goddamn crazy out there.

...talking's something I think we should probably do soon.

I heard that Harry told you.

Yeah, he did. And I yelled a lot at him for it. Well, not for telling me, but something else.

Ain't been the best of moods for me lately, no.

I'm sorry I didn't- I didn't know how to, where to start. Marlene doesn't want to talk about it, so...

I hope Harry's alright. It sounded like he ran himself raw on purpose, out in this cold. I worry for him.

I'm not mad at you for not telling. Mad at something else and someone else entirely.

He did something stupid because he can't stand himself. I'm trying to kick his ass back into shape. Feeling bad for him isn't getting him to fix himself up.

How you been, though, Nani? Can't make this all about me and Harry.

None of us ever expected it. Everyone was shocked, and poor Marlene...well...well we don't need to talk about this. She'll be okay now, and- and I'm not even sure what happened to Sweeney, I've been so focused on the kids.

Well, Harry Mason needs all kinds of love. Maybe it's the tough kind from you.

I've been busy as usual. Setting up a public soup kitchen in the cafeteria, hopefully if we have enough supplies gathered we'll be able to keep it at serving up three sturdy meals a week, and we'll add on if the stock is lucky enough to stretch. Also people will be able to sit down and eat with one another, which I'm convinced is the key to starting some good neighbor policy and more common ground. Getting everything back to working order's been a task though, let me tell you! And plus Ari's been sick, I've been looking after the poor guy.

Sweeney's back around, apparently. Right now, I've got the urge to put a bullet in his brain, but I'm putting that on hold unless he tries to pull some ridiculous shit when I go for my chat with him.

Yeah, but.. that's not what I meant. I'm asking how you are, Nani.

Is he? I'll be carefuller.

...Mm. I still just...don't understand. He had a daughter himself here. I think the man is crazy.

Me? I'm holding together. I'm trying to get us all ready for winter and keep sickness from spreading. I really wish there was more hot water to go around, I already hear that colds are circling over the communicators. And Lilo's been so antsy but thankfully it's not always up to just me to keep her entertained.

Mm.

You had any chance to have real time to yourself? Y'know, have fun and all that?

I try and have coffee with someone new in the mornings, while Lilo's doing 'school' with Layton or Iroh. I really hope she doesn't fall behind...is this a stupid thing to worry about? I mean we have standardized tests starting in second grade back where we're from, she could get held back.

It's nice living with Mona? She's nice to sit and talk with after Merle and Lilo are asleep. I wish there were more to do around Discedo than sit and chat, though, there's only so much of that two roommates can do. We should have a community game night or something.

Not stupid to worry about at all. I used to spend whatever money I could scrounge up just to send Marlene to school, back when we lived in slums.

Maybe. There's more out there, if you look for it. Could use some new stuff to read, ain't read anything really good since the Cosmo Canyon philosophies...

Hawaii's got an okay public system, I guess? Lilo was going to be entering school this fall. But she's clever, she already can read through most national geographic captions. She's been making up stories to the pictures in those from dad's years old stack since she knew how to talk to herself.

The trouble's getting out there. Library's all the way down the opposite end of the city, isn't it? I wonder if there's anything left more kid-appropriate in the rubble from the elementary school.
