He knew that Cordelia would be angry, but he hadn't quite expected her to be so cold. There was something final in the way she closed the door because she simply had nothing to say to him. It made the reunion a wake up call. Sometimes too much time passes. Sometimes things can't be fixed. Sometimes things get so fucked up there isn't anything left to say. Sometimes you just shut the door and walk away.
He drove around the city for hours listening to nothing but the wind through the cracked window. Hopefully Faith didn't have the same reception when she found her kids and family. It hadn't been her choice to leave. Connor orchestrated this, and it was Connor's responsibility to carry it.
Why he ended up at the Bluff where he proposed to Cordy he wasn't sure. But he spent the night laying on the hood of his car listening to the ocean crash to shore. Welcome home, Connor. Welcome the fuck home.
