Morning. With kneel_majorzod.

Despite the fact that she was born and raised in a small town, Smallville does not remind Cordelia of Sunnydale. Which is probably due to the lack of vampires and demons trying to kill her. Still, there's something about the place that isn't quite normal, either, though she can't quite put her finger on why ( Read more... )

Zod has been awake for a couple minutes when he hears her yawn, and a small smile touches his lips when he does. "Morning," he whispers, shifting his head slightly to press a soft kiss to her face but making no movement to release his hold on her or get out of bed.

Under normal circumstances, he would have gladly taken Cordelia back to his own lodgings the day before, but given the presence of his soldiers, he decided to get them another hotel room. And of course he gave her an honest explanation as to why he did so. He never feels the need to be anything less than completely honest with her.

A smile touches her lips at his words. "Morning," she says sleepily.

"Did you sleep well?" he asks quietly, slowly rubbing a hand up her back.

"Like a rock," she admits with a grin. "Did you?"

"I'd be happy to meet your friends," he says softly, smiling at her and running a hand idly through her hair. "I just hope I can live up to their expectations."

"Just being honest," she tells him softly before leaning down and kissing him softly.

She kisses him back just as lightly. "Good," she whispers. "I think you do."

"Well, I'm glad," he whispers against her face. "Because that's exactly where I plan on being."

Her smile is genuine and happy at his words. They may live a few hundred miles apart, but it didn't seem to matter. When they met up again, it was like they just picked up where they left off. They are making it work and that realization sends a little thrill through her.

He nods against her forehead, pulling her a little closer again. At this point, she's about as close as she can possibly get. "And it won't be too bad," he assures her after a pause. "I won't be gone for an extremely long time. Just long enough to communicate with humanity's leaders."

He pauses for another long moment before adding, "I wish I could ask you to come with me. But that wouldn't be fair to you. I know you have work to do, as well."

She smiles faintly. "Maybe for one or two of the stops along the way. But probably not for all of them," she admits. "But you're right. It won't be forever."

A small smile touches his own lips. "And a lot of planning needs to happen before I can even leave. We still have plenty of time before then. And when I do go, I'll try to come back as often as I can along the way. Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer in between visits than we do already." He gives her a gentle squeeze and closes his eyes. "It will be all right. We'll make it work."

She smiles softly. "Of course we will. It's something we both want and neither of us give up easily.'

"I know," he sighs, giving her a wide smile in return. "This is quite the predicament, isn't it?"

Cordelia chuckles. "It is. Whatever will we do?"

"Well, it would seem one of us is going to have to move," Zod sighs teasingly, still not loosening his grip on her. "What do you think? If we come right back?"

She gave a mock sigh. "I suppose as long as we come right back." Her eyes were bright with amusement.
