On my birthday I received a wealth of gift certificates to buy TV shows on DVD and I totally splurged. I am now the proud owner of The Office S3 (I already have S1 & S2), 30 Rock S1, Friday Night Lights S1, Joan of Arcadia S2 (I already own S1) and Pride & Prejudice (A&E Miniseries). [Aside to
carmen_sandiego, the A&E version is still the first in my heart. *g*]

HIMYM is really a charming and funny show. It's one that I'm most looking forward to returning. I heard about Robin Sparkles being back this year - that's so awesome!!
They don't make a statement about his sexuality, probably because of his age, but they communicate how difficult it can be for a young gay person if he doesn't have accepting family.
Definitely! It's so fantastically well done. Ugly Betty does a good job with over-the-top humour, and also with the sweet character stuff.
I'm considering checking out that vampire show, although I'm not hearing good things about it, like really really bad things. And apparently David Greenwalt isn't working on the show anymore which I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing.
I admit to not being super excited about most of the new shows. Although Reaper (the CW at 9pm, premieres Sept 25th) and Chuck (NBC at 8pm, premieres Sept 24th) look fun. I want to be excited about Bionic Woman (NBC at 9pm, premieres Sept 26th) and Private Practice (ABC at 9pm, premieres Sept 26th), but I'm not so sure how good they'll actually be.

Chuck looks like it could be amusing. Or horrifyingly bad. Previews are so misleading sometimes.
I'd been looking forward to Bionic Woman until I heard they hired that idiotic Isiah Washington. *rolls eyes* Anybody with judgment that bad may not be ready to produce a tv series.
Greenwalt left Moonlight, huh?! That could mean anything. I've not read anything about it beyond the thing about him being with it. Well, I'll give the premiere a look. If it's no good, I've only lost an hour. *g*
I'm also going to check out Journeyman on NBC. It's time travel - one of my big kinks - and stars the actor from HBO's Rome who played Vilius. (Sorry, my tired brain has blanked on his name for the time being.) Can't think of anything else - off-hand - that I'm looking forward to.
Don't know anything about Private Practice. What is it about it that makes you want to try it?
Oh, I've also been enjoying Burn Notice on USA. I highly recommend it. It's finished its run for now, but I imagine they'll repeat it. It comes back next summer. It stars Jeffery Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Sharon Gless and - the reason I started watching it - the inimitable Bruce Campbell. Hee! It's about a spy who is fired (gets a 'burn notice') and is stranded in Miami and unable to leave. He has no money, no references, etc and must rely on help from his ex-girlfriend and ex-IRA member (Anwar), his mother whom he doesn't always get along with (Gless) and friend and former fellow spy (Campbell) who is now a gigolo who is informing on him to the FBI (with his knowledge). They band together and make money by helping people in need by using their spy skills. It's light, it's fun, it's action packed, Donovan is delightful and - hey! - it's got my man Bruce!!! Who could ask for more?
Oh, and my latest fav? 4 words - Torchwood's Captain Jack Harkness! *sighs and then squeals like a crazed bobby-soxer*

However, I didn't like Bionic Woman and shall not be continuing to watch, which is good cause then I won't have to see Isaiah Washington.
I still haven't watched Moonlight but I've heard it's bad. Have you seen it? Because of your rec, I've recorded Journeyman but haven't actually found time to watch it yet. I may save up the eps and watch them when other shows are in rerun. So many good shows on Monday night, so little time!
Private Practice is the spinoff from Grey's Anatomy (which I do enjoy). Unfortunately the first episode of the series wasn't that great. But there's some great actors (Amy Brenneman, Taye Diggs and Timothy Daly) so I'm hopeful that it has potential. It's about a neonatal surgeon who moves to this private practice in California.
Oooh, Burn Notice sounds great! It's not airing here yet (I don't get USA here). I LOVE Bruce Campbell!!! I shall be keeping an eye out for it! :D
