Over here there's screaming and honking and fireworks, because apparently ours won.

Note: when your room mate comes in to tell you the Bruins won the Stanley Cup, don't say "is that us?" and "is that like, the Superbowl of hockey?" It doesn't go over well.

Should I be feeling vaguely guilty at being by some reasonable definition a Bostonian? The only sporting loyalty I ever managed was to the Red Sox, and I lost all interest in them once they ceased to be tragic. Even in their tragic days I was mournful rather than violent at their snatchings of defeat from the jaws of victory.

My apathy toward team sports knows few bounds. although I am reliably informed that there are more Canadians on the Boston team than Vancouver, so no hard feelings :)

And it seems that they didn't manage a proper riot after all, so everything can go back to normal now.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I know riots are part of sporting culture in many times and places, but it's always depressing when the things people invest in for fun turn into real ugly stuff.
