And So It Begins...
Sister and her husband came for a family conference on Friday. This was arranged after Ma and I spoke separately with Sister on Thursday evening. I don't know what was said during Ma's part of the conversation, though it must have been one of the Frank Chats Sister specializes in. Anyway, the hunt for a dwelling is on. On Saturday, we called my cousin's long-suffering husband and formally asked him to be our realtor, and arranged for him to meet with the four of us--Sister, Sister's Husband (should I call him Mr. Sister?) Ma and me. We've given him a price range and some specifications, and we'll see what he comes up with. I'm really pleased Sister and Mr. Sister are taking an active part in this. Sister is a speech therapist who works with the elderly, and Mr. Sister is a vice-president in commercial lending. They live and work one state over, but it is not a long distance, so less of an inconvenience than it might be. Sister and I will actually be doing most of the condo viewing.
As ever when she knows something is going to happen, Ma is in a swivet. She'll calm down once the process gets going. In the meantime she's writing a list of questions for cousin's husband and a list of things that need to be in the new place (doors wide enough for the wheelchair, etc.). I think I'm going to refer to cousin's husband as Poor Jim in any future posts on the subject. With the three of us (with occasional input from Mr. Sister) he's certainly going to earn his fee on this one.
I really love this new icon. It's the reality of Snape. I don't know who the artist is/was. I got it from iconomicon, his 1/18/09 post. He generates a huge batch every month or so, many of which are snarky and/or crude to the max--and, of course, those are the funniest ones--but others are like this one. Check him out. Even if you wouldn't use some of his stuff, it's worth a giggle.
