Well, maybe I will review a the movies I watched sooo long ago.. if I can recall the categorys..
House on Haunted Hill:
This is a remake of a Vincent Price classic. It is not incredibly scary but it suceeds in setting the mood properly. The house is aliiiive! and it kills all but two people.. It may be a remake but it is almost completely new.. In this movie there is actually something supernatural.. while the original was all a conspiracy. This movie has Tae Diggs, Jeff Goldblum....lookalike.. Vincent Price.... lookalike.. and the girl who plays Jean Grey in X-Men. The idea is.. if you can stay a night in the haunted mansion you get 1'million dollars.. trick is.. its haunted! and the guy who is hosting is a theme park builder so he has all kinds of secret tricks that he doesn't get to use because the place is haunted anyways...Treachery, Murrrrder!, meyhem, its all there.. actually not that bad of a thing to watch.. I recommend it.
Gore: 5 ( guy's face gets holed)
Plot: 5 (Remake)
Acting: 6 (Sure, decent)
Scaryness: 5 (run in terror from the blob of black stuff attacking you!)
Special Effects: 5 (bah)
26/50
Dead Alive
Peter Jackson's third film I believe.. another funny gorefest. His mother gets bit by a ratmonkey and gets infected with a disease whose name escapes my memory. The nurse, kung fu priest and others are infected and turn into zombies. Carnage insues and a lawnmower is used to kill people. good fun
Gore:10 (Woowee)
Plot: 7 (Interesting)
Acting: 6 (Not the best part of er)
Scaryness: 5 (comedy.. but gorey)
Special Effects: 9 (How does Peter Jackson manage to make such perfect special effects on a low budget)
37/50
I think for 50's movies I am going to waive the Gore requirement and put 50's in their own category
The Brain that Would not Die (1962)
Old 50's movie about a man who can surgically reattach stuff to people... like his severed girlfriend's head to another body.. yeah not likely. The elixir he uses to keep her alive lets her talk tepelathically with his test subject that he has locked up in the other room.
Plot: 4 (not very interesting)
Acting: 7 (Not terrible)
Scaryness: 4 ( Not scary)
Special Effects: 8 (The test subject is pretty good for a 50's movie all mutated and what not)
23/40
attack of The Killer Shrews (1959)
Genetically enhanced shrews have trapped scientists on an island and they must escape before being eaten alive by these poisonous beings.
Plot: 7 (yessir.. evil Shrews!)
Acting: 8 (Good acting)
Scaryness: 4 (noo... not scary noo..)
Special Effects: 4 ( the srews are dogs with stuff tied on them)
23/40
King of the Zombies (1941)
A plan crash lands on an island with a creepy man who controls zombies. Mantan Moreland plays a Black Servant.. he is the best thing to happen to this movie.
Plot:8
Acting:10
Scaryness: 6
Special Effects: 6 (meh)
30/40
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: TNG (the one with renee Zellwiger) - Mathhew McConaughey and the rest of the bad guys are the only reson I gave this movie a 1 for acting..
Highlites
Gawd I only kissed her once, jeez its like I can't even talk to my friends anymore.. I can't believe how possesive you are!..
Wow way to play the blame game.
Wait, I just thought of something way cool... what if we get in a wreck with a car in front of us and we die.. it would be sooo cool.. they could write a song about us..
Please mister... I don't want to die.. tell me what I can do.. ugggg!
What if there are murderers hiding behind the trees just waiting to come out and stab us!.. There could be dead people buried all around us.
Gore: 5 (not much)
Plot: 4 Predictable
Acting: 1 (4)(terrible.. reasessment after watching more of the movie.. the crappy actors all die and the good villains bring this rating wayyyyy up)
Scaryness: 8 (yeah chainsaws are scary)
Special Effects: 4 (nothing to warrant a higher mark)
21/50 (24/50)
