BECAUSE THE SACKS ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!
That was an incredible game. Production from the little guys (B has christened Pedroia "Wonderpup," the heir-apparent to David "Wonderdog" Eckstein), strong relief pitching from Okajima and Papelbon, and some timely defense from Manny(!) and Coco. We do indeed look strong, and there's not a one of us who isn't thinking how much this season reminds us of '04.
The one thing that's been getting too much attention, I think, is the choice of Kevin Millar throwing out the first pitch and hanging out in the dugout during the game. Yes, he's a current Oriole. Yes, he's not on the team anymore, and was allowed to walk after his contract in Boston was up. But he WAS an instrumental part of '04, and he's still a close friend to a lot of the guys on the team (althoug Lowell might not be much of a fan after the eyebrows comment). I see no problem with it, but B was rather animated this morning about how wrong it was. Thoughts?
