Final concert.

So Thursday night was the final SHS concert for the year. My last SHS concert as a student, ever.

It was amazing.

It was the busiest I've ever been in a concert. Jazz band played in the cafeteria as sort of a prelude (while the jazz choir simultaneously sang in the auditorium). I think that was the best I've ever played the bass bone, lol. After we finished playing, I had to rush back to put my music away (Elisha was nice and put Fido away for me) and get my choir robe on so I could get into the concert choir formation. (Ironically, I only sang one of three songs. I was doing percussion for the first and marimba for the second, lol.) It didn't end after that, though. I had to throw my robe off, more or less, change out of my jazz band vest and put on my cumberbund, bowtie, and jacket and rush backstage to wait to be taken onstage for chamber choir's last song, the unofficial senior song ("Good Riddance," Green Day, if you were wondering). After that, I had to throw my bassoon together (except more delicately than I stated just now) and find a flashlight in a hurry for band, for which we played the overture to "The Marriage of Figaro," "Voodoo" (go Dan Bukvich!), and a medley of primetime cartoon themes (the only one I like of those three is the theme from The Simpsons). Oh, but before we actually started, I found out that I grabbed the wrong folder, so I had to rush back to go get the right one. >_<

Cue me rushing back to the band room to stow my bassoon again and get my violin, which Kristin got out for me. I had the right folder this time, lol. For orchestra, we had "Shepherd's Hey," a medley of three John Williams themes from Schindler's List, Angela's Ashes, and Saving Private Ryan; and a medley of tunes from Ratatouille. Fun list. =D I want to go see Angela's Ashes now, lol. Anyway, more rushing, stashing the violin for the bassoon, rushing back out to get into my spot in symphony (and it took forever for me to get a chair and a stand!). For that, we played "Inferno" and "Purgatorio" from this one guy's suite representing Dante's works and "Smooth," as recorded by Santana and Rob Thomas. The weakest set of the night, IMO.

Anyway, after that, I played the Minuet from Bach's Suite No. 2 in B Minor with Aaron, Katie, and Kristin backing me as a string trio. And then I stowed the bassoon one last time before I rushed to get into place for the mass choir stuff. We sang a medley of tunes used in Sister Act 2, "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye," and "Bohemian Rhapsody" (that was fun stuff!). "Ev'ry Time" was the official senior goodbye song, of course, and we all got blue silk roses and a little gift wrapped in tissue paper. Oh yeah, and I sang a solo with Erik. Sweet!

Turned in my tux. Managed not to cry even though lots of the underclassmen almost made me do it, lol. (Hey, I've still got graduation!). Talked a little bit with people who showed up, and then came home. Whew! It was tiring, but it was really ethereal when I thought about the fact that this was my last SHS concert...ever.

Anyway, today I had no ride to jazz band, and I forgot to go take the transit (I didn't know where to go for the school bus), so I inadvertantly did the senior skip day. Oops.

I watched a video recording of Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) today for my music appreciation homework. It was the first time I ever watched any kind of operatic work, and I have to say that it was AMAZING. Now one of my dreams is to someday see The Magic Flute in person somewhere and hear Tamino and Pamina sing their arias, and of course the Queen of the Night and her stunning arias. I love both of the Queen of the Night's arias! Look up Diana Damrau on YouTube and find the clips with her as the Queen of the Night if you want to hear what I'm talking about. woot!

So now I want to watch another opera, lol. I'm debating between The Marriage of Figaro and The Barber of Seville. Coin toss? XD

Wow, it's been a long time since I've written like this. Feels good once in a while, ja?

Going to Federal Way tomorrow with Kyle and co. for his 18th birthday partay. Woot! Be back on Monday evening, though I might be able to post something on the weekend. Not that I would for sure if I could, of course. xD
