[To those who know it, the backdrop is a view of a bedroom in the traditional Japanese house belonging to Sango, Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kohaku. There's a few tree branches poking through an open window, laden heavily with apples. Sunlight still filters through, casting waning

[Kagome sits nearby Kirara's makeshift nest, a bright smile on her face. She's trying not to be too loud, but even her whispers are excited.]

Sango-chan, they're just so cute! How can we give any of them away?

I really don't think we want all seven of them. Think about it, Kagome-chan--they could transform suddenly in bursts of flame and they're young enough to be reckless about it; they've got razor-sharp claws and fangs and they could eventually literally fly through the roof.

We don't want them all here.

That's true. And if any of them take after Kuro-chan, they could take the building down just by transforming, too. But still...

[Self-restraint, Kagome! Learn to let go!]

We'll just have to find good homes for them.

We won't let anyone dangerous take them.

Of course! We should probably warn them about their powers before we let them leave, or we might have a few accidents.

I intend to. And to have them relatively well-behaved by the time they leave, too.

That's good. We wouldn't want them causing trouble, right?

[And she looks back to the kittens and barely suppresses a squeal of delight.]

...Hey, Sango-chan, we can keep one kitten, can't we?

I was planning on it. I think Kirara would be too lonely without at least one.

You're probably right, especially with Kuro-chan gone. But she'll have her kittens around for a little longer.

Mm. And after that... well, I'm sure they'll see each other all the time.

Yeah, there's no way Kirara wouldn't keep an eye on her children, even after they move away, right?

Definitely. She's rather protective, though I'm sure you've noticed.

She's going to be a great mother, I know it.

She always has been, hasn't she? She's looked after all of us.

I guess you're right. I never thought of it that way before. She's always been a friend, but I didn't think of her as a mother.

She's a little bit of both, I suppose. On one hand, she is a friend, but on the other--she's older than all of us combined and she's been with me since I was born, so...
