Tonight I had a good constructive confrontation, a rich conversation, a change of plans and a lovely impromptu picnic dinner in Madison Square Park after a jazz quintet took to a stage that we hadn't realized was there, and I felt grateful for friendship, for fresh air and cool grass, for live music and musicianship, and for smooth, sultry instrumental renditions of Georgia On My Mind that summon associations to southern sweet iced tea, churned vanilla ice cream, and warm peach cobbler -- things that demand, gently, that they will not be rushed. No, to do this right, you will slow down, take your time, and know what it is to savor.
Delicious musicality. Yum.
