Must... resist... temptation... to work!

Okay, that title is a lie, but at least it makes me feel like I want to work, however artificially. The fact of the matter is that it is 4 PM and I need to write an essay tonight. True, I have been working pretty steadily (with brunch, a Sainsbury's break, and more time on the internet than necessary) since 9 AM, and have thus completed a commentary and a presentation. Also true, I have a detailed outline for my essay, so if I manage to really buckle down (and drop my ethernet cord behind my desk), I should be able to manage this, and potentially still go to most of Ian's movie showing for the cast of Much Ado.
In the interest of brevity: Things that are making me smile.
1. There are small children running back and forth across the quad outside my window. I am wondering if you can still be fined fifty pounds for touching the grass if you are under three feet tall. I bet you can. (Not that the thought of fining small children makes me smile. But the thought of how much it would make Laura I. smile kind of does.)
2. Ben and I have decided that, while we watch the midterm elections together and vomit with anxiety over the fate of my country, he is going to smoke a cigar he got for his birthday, drink port, wear a top hat and a monocle, and say with an absurdly posh accent: "Thank God I'm not from America! The filthy heathens!" He also said something about taking a shot for every state the Democrats take, but I don't think that fits with the character.
3. Sam Vlad and I have been having facebook banter all day about how many times I have seen him walk across the quad in the past few hours. The fact that I am having facebook banter is indicative of how much I need to unplug my ethernet cord.
4. Despite everything, I am only one hour behind on the schedule I made for myself today. I really should go to the library to avoid falling further behind. In any case, all of this reminds me why I am The Ant.
5. If I get enough work done in the next hour and a half, I might go to Mass in Keble Chapel. Bwahaha. I guess it's only appropriate for me to go, seeing as I was invited by a Catholic, and seeing as I spent last night enjoying fireworks in honor of killing Catholics. I don't want to seem like I'm picking favorites. I enjoy the spectacles of all religions equally! (Then again, Keble Mass is not technically Catholic, but High Church Anglican - although from what I can tell, "High Church Anglican" should actually be pronounced: "High Church *cough*Catholic!*cough* Anglican.")

keble, friends, fun
