Wow. The past week has been the most insane of the summer so far. So much drama! So much action! So much work! So little sleep!
where to begin...
There have been birthdays galore for the past few weeks and the trend is continuing for the rest of the summer. Which is a fun thing but might prove to be a problem financially...
I worked 2nd of July at the club for our "party" which was exceptionally lame. I was actually pretty disappointed. The fireworks only lasted 15 minutes, at most. Sigh. Hattie, Jessie, and I went over to the Les/Chris/Chris/Jerold house after work that night which was fun... reconfirmed my belief that almost everyone I work with is rad.
I gave a really horrid presentation today at the Energy Center. I wasn't aware that I would have to present it and "Stan the Hydrogen Man" was not as umm receptive as I could have hoped.
Cole and Cole(the girl) experienced "the Bear" yesterday, a five mile run up GrandfatherMmountain. So I drove Cole(the boy) and watched the race start. And read Harry Potter until they got back. Both Coles did well, so hooray.
Also, I finished the fourth Harry Potter today. If someone can lend me the fifth one I'll be eternally grateful.
I am going to start doing some more volunteer work for the High Country Conservancy next week. There are three properties that need baseline reports, so I'll be doing the fieldwork and some of the writing for those. I'm excited because it's an excuse to wander around in the woods, take pictures, and look at stuff. AND I GET TO USE A GPS UNIT! *nerdy snort*
My birthday is coming up soon and I discovered yesterday that I share it with my awesome friend Johnny. Imagine that! I am sure I'll be working on my birthday. In fact, it is inevitable. But Hattie explained why this is not a problem: "Cora, you have a birthWEEK not just a birthDAY, so you have plenty of time to celebrate yourself."
Andrew is in DC by now, preparing for his trip to Jordan.
Lauren has returned from Ireland and brought a fair share of drama and turmoil back with her.
Tomorrow is the Farmer's Market and I work a double. So I'll be getting up in approximately 4 hours for that business. I went running today which was nice. I love summer evenings, especially here in the mountains. Oh! Oh! I got my car fixed this week, praise the lord. I love my van and it will not be with me much longer. Cliff gets it at the end of the summer so my adventures will be over. Speaking of brothers, I miss mine and can't wait to see him when I get home. Hopefully he'll be around. And hopefully I'll get off the Thursday-Tuesday that I requested off. Jessica and I have top secret plans that involve a fantastic man whose initials are Johnny Depp.
And a final thank you to Mr. Faulkner for making stream-of-consciousness an acceptable literary device.
