Just when I think autism sucks, it doesn't

I came on intending to post about a difficult-to-hear conversation I had with Shrek today, in which he matter-of-factly and without emotion detailed how his mainstream classmates this year routinely snubbed him, ridiculed him, or, in his words, "freaked out whenever I went near them." It's the end of elementary school and I was feeling a little blue because it's one of those times when, no matter how many great things he's accomplishing and how much I adore every thing about him, I am constantly (selfishly) reminded of what he is not, and how others view him. Mother's perogative, I guess.

But then I saw this video, and I cried for a whole 'nother reason. God bless this kid, his classmates, his teachers and his parents. Stories like his remind me that better days are ahead.
