I need to find an email for Liz Szabo, a health reporter with USA Today. Because I need to know who to credit for one of the most appalling sentences I've ever read in a newspaper. In the story
"Recession Linked to Increase in Shaken Baby Syndrome" a late paragraph leads with "Though poor people can be excellent parents..."
As Kit says, W, I say, TF?
It is apparently paraphrased, which makes it all the more troubling, and which is why I need to get in touch with this writer and ask exactly what the quote was, and who decided to commit those words to print.
"Though poor people can be excellent parents..." Good God, America.
