Ablaze

Every light comes from fire, whether it be the sun in the sky, the spark of electricity, or the passion in someone's eyes. Many flames have come and gone, but one fire--the greatest fire the world has ever known--has burned for twenty centuries, and shows no sign of being extinguished.

The greatest fire the world has ever known started with two pieces of wood, not rubbed together to make a physical flame, but joined together into an instrument of torture.

The greatest fire the world has ever known began on a hill outside Jerusalem one Friday afternoon, descended into the depths of Satan's kingdom, and returned on that Sunday.

The greatest fire the world has ever known blinded the soldiers who were meant to prevent a theft, only to find themselves eyewitness, the first to tell the news of Jesus rising from the grave.

The greatest fire the world has ever known spread to his disciples, who seven weeks later were inflamed with the Holy Spirit--these same men who ran like scared mice when their Rabbi was betrayed now preached boldly of a risen King.

The greatest fire the world has ever known turned a man who had made it his goal to extinguish the flame into the one carrying the torch all the way to the heart of the Roman Empire.

The greatest fire the world has ever known consumed all who heard it, from Judea and Samaria to the ends of the earth.

The greatest fire the world has ever known has burned brightest in our darkest ages, keeping its light through wars, famines, plagues and holocausts.

The greatest fire the world has ever known continues to blaze today, even as some attempt to use it as a tool for spiritual arson.

The greatest fire the world has ever known burns in the hearts of all who love and serve the Lord and Savior of this world.

The greatest fire the world has ever known lives in me, burning away the chaff of this world and refining my heart into purity, worthy of coming before the Lord.

The greatest fire the world has ever known is given to the world, not by Prometheus, but by Jesus.

Will you let this fire burn in you?
