"Rubbish!"
Let's see...do I have any stories about things that failed spectacularly? I mean, that I can actually tell without offending someone?
No, that's too obvious. Though I could talk about all that Ikea furniture Dad and I assembled when I first moved into the new apartment...except we got all of that right. Maybe I could fictionalize it?
No, that still feels like it flows too naturally from the topic. I've got to be creative about this.
Maybe the machinations I used to attempt to get dates in college? Something about this composite character who has designs on some beautiful woman--only there's a flaw in his plan to get her. Ooh--maybe there's a flaw in the woman that he's not seeing...
Nah, that's gonna be terrible.
What about myself? Could I talk about the flaws I see in my own design? How I'm working to fix them? Or the flaws in my writing?
Sigh. Don't feel that introspective.
Wait, the deadline's in 30 minutes? Crap. Guess I'll just throw something together and hope it works, warts and all.
state of emergency,
pimp my write,
let's get critical,

turn of phrase,
isn't it ironic,
writer's block,
read between the lines,
