A Massachusetts man struck a couple with his pickup truck and dragged the wife 3 miles to her death before stopping to dislodge the body, according to a disturbing police report.

Moses Acloque, 22, was arrested in Foxborough late Monday night just after a state trooper reported seeing the body of 58-year-old Kanchanben Patel under his Ford F150 vehicle.

Employees at Arbor Inn Motel told police that Acloque and another man had sped away from their property after refusing to pay their bill when he hit the couple.

After smashing one car, MyFoxBoston reports, he struck Patel and her husband, who both worked at the motel and recently celebrated becoming U.S. citizens.

Patel's husband, Dahyabhai Patel, was able to free himself from Acloque's vehicle. He escaped with minor injuries, CBS Boston reports.

The woman, however, vanished.

More than 3 miles up Route 1, Acloque's vehicle was pulled over by a state trooper who reported seeing his truck and a second vehicle driving erratically.

The trailing vehicle's driver told the state trooper that he was driving erratically to attract attention because the white pickup had just struck two people and was dragging one under his truck.

Moses Acloque, of Norwood, Mass., pleaded not guilty to charges related to the death of Kanchanben Patel. Acloque said he didn't realize he hit anyone and was fleeing attackers.

Acloque was found pulled over in a restaurant parking lot, according to the police report obtained by Boston.com.

He got out of his vehicle and "began yelling for help and that someone was chasing him," the state trooper wrote.

"As I approached ... it appeared that he had a deer carcass wedged under his motor vehicle," Trooper Sean O'Brien wrote in his report.

O’Brien said that just moments before flashing his vehicle's lights, he had seen Acloque drive over to another section of the parking lot.

Upon inspecting it himself, he discovered "a long object in the parking lot. As I drew closer, I could determine that it was a human body," wrote O'Brien.

After further investigation, O'Brien wrote that Acloque and his passenger may have gotten out and inspected the body they had been dragging just before he arrived.

He believes Acloque drove his vehicle in reverse to dislodge the body before trying to take off again.

Acloque told police that he was physically attacked by a group of people at the motel and fearing for his life when he sped away.

A state trooper who saw Acloque and another driver driving erratically led to the discovery of the woman's body underneath Acloque's pickup truck, pictured, according to the trooper.

He said he was unaware he had struck anyone.

"He feared for his life," defense attorney Rudy Miller said during his arraignment Tuesday, as Boston.com reports.

Acloque was held on $3,000 cash bail.

He pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a collision causing death, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, two counts of leaving the scene of property damage, and driving with a suspended license to operate.

Back at the motel, friends and family of Patel were mourning her tragic death while comforting her husband.

"She was the kindest lady here that you could ever find. (Her husband) was right beside her," a friend told WCVB. "She was a really nice person, and it is sad to see someone like her go. For this to happen to the nicest little lady in the world, it is shameful."

A friend of Patel recalled her only just becoming a U.S. citizen.

"She was so proud, and we gave her a little cake and everything," the friend identified as Stanley told WBZ News. "They were very proud of being American citizens."
