Themed Recs #1: Original Characters
We'd like to do periodic themed recs here at
copsandhunters in order to share great fics about our favorite characters and themes. I'll shortly be making a post where you can suggest particular themes you'd like to see.
Today's theme is:
Original Characters
To start us off, here are a few of my favorites:
Paradigm Shift, by
lyra_wing (PG)
Future-fic, about 10 years into the future. Spoilers up to "Nightshifter."
A really fun outsider's point of view on the Winchesters, ten years in the future, when they're in charge of their own FBI division. Also check out the sequels, New Blood (PG-13) and Like Family (PG-13), which feature lots of familiar faces as well as several more interesting OCs, and the prequel, To Catch a Thief (PG-13).
Her Tracks Are On the Land, by
cofax7 (PG)
The boy she's spent twenty years searching for, in memory of her dead sister, turned out to be a serial killer. How's that for a kick in the pants? Could be read as AU, but not yet entirely jossed.
A realistic and wonderfully detailed outsider's POV on the Winchester family, and an appealing OFC, with cameos by Henriksen and Reidy, among others. Another very enjoyable OC fic by the same author, which features a female investigator, is Working Theory (PG-13).
As Old Medallions To the Thumb, by
hossgal (PG-13)
The dog showed up a week into autumn, rail thin and quicksilver skittish.
A kickass OFC and a lovely exploration of Bobby's character. (Bobby/OFC)
Blood and Wine Are Red, by

Eventually, one of those boys is going to get caught.
After Sam Winchester is caught working a job, familiar characters and OCs alike react to the saga of "the Brothers Grim."
